From improving our infrastructure to alleviating traffic, from advancing major flooding mitigation projects to rescuing our troubled recycling center, and from repaving neighborhood roads to working tirelessly on the revitalization of West Ashley – Brantley Moody has made significant progress for District 7 in his first two terms on County Council. And, he is committed to making even more progress for us!

Improve our Infrastructure

In less than two terms on County Council, Brantley has helped realize the completion of the Highway 61 and Highway 7 intersection improvement, the replacement of the Ashley Hall Plantation Road Bridge, sidewalk connectivity projects throughout the district including many that connect with the West Ashley greenway, long-overdue neighborhood repaving projects throughout the district and notably throughout the neighborhoods off of Savannah Highway. Moody has also brought forward other critical infrastructure projects, including multiple intersection improvements for the Olde Towne District and Orange Grove Road. Improvements at the Sycamore Avenue and St. Andrew’s Boulevard intersection will allow for safe crossing and West Ashley Bikeway connectivity. Brantley championed the smart street concept for the widening of the Glenn McConnell Parkway. This project, in conjunction with the City of Charleston Public Works team, will also address flooding issues in the Forest Lakes / Longbranch areas of West Ashley. And, during his tenure on Council, Brantley has realized 374 resurfacing and road preservation projects throughout the district. Brantley’s focus for our roadways will always center on reduced traffic, increased safety and improved connectivity.

Complete 526

Having rallied support on County Council to restart the 526 completion project, Brantley worked closely with the Governor to gain State Infrastructure Bank approval. His consistent fight for 526 was further evidenced by his support of SCDOT's plan to fund the next phase of the project and get it shovel-ready.

Support Law Enforcement

Brantley Moody supports the law enforcement officers who keep our neighborhoods safe. That’s why Brantley voted to provide our officers with a new mobile command center and helicopter and why he has signed the Police Protection Pledge, affirming he will oppose any resolution or action to defund the police. Rather, Brantley will continue to ensure our officers have the necessary tools, resources, and training to keep our families, officers, and community safe. And, Brantley will continue to work in collaboration with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, the City of Charleston Police Department and the City of North Charleston Police Department to keep our district safe.

Protect our Tax Dollars

Brantley has never voted for a tax increase in his two terms on County Council. He will continue to protect our hard-earned tax dollars.

Tackle Flooding

There is no denying that without the proper resources, flooding mitigation efforts cannot be successful. Brantley has delivered in securing over $3 Million dollars for drainage improvement projects in our communities. Moody secured funding for the County portion of the Dupont-Wappoo drainage projects and the Boone Hall Road flooding studies. His foresight and coalition building skills are evident as he worked across municipalities in an effort to secure funding to acquire the former Church Creek Piggly Wiggly parcel. This effort will not only provide relief to the Church Creek drainage basin, but it will also allow the St. Andrews PSD to construct a new fire station, eliminate an eyesore and provide greenspace for families to enjoy.

Provide a Better Quality of Life

While infrastructure improvements, traffic relief, and flooding mitigation all help in making District 7 a better place to live, work, and raise a family, Brantley also worked to rescue the county’s recycling center, which is now open and contains the most modern, efficient technology in the industry. Brantley was also instrumental in securing $3M dollars to fund the County portion of the Ashley River Bike – Pedestrian Bridge. Brantley has also secured $3.1 Million dollars for land and greenspace preservation greenbelt projects in the district. Additionally, his tireless efforts in service on the West Ashley Revitalization Committee continue to provide greater opportunities for our West Ashley neighbors.
