Brantley Moody Announces Re-Election Bid to Charleston County Council

"Ready to continue delivering results on the most important issues in our community"

CHARLESTON, SC – Charleston County Councilman Brantley Moody announced today that he will be seeking re-election to the District 7 seat he has served since 2017. Filing for the District 7 council seat that covers areas in West Ashley and North Charleston opens at noon on Saturday.

In his announcement, Councilman Moody highlighted the results he has attained for his constituents and his commitment to continuing to deliver on the most important issues facing the county.

“It has been a true honor to serve our neighbors and keep the promises I made to them,” said Councilman Moody. “In my first two terms on Council, I have worked to secure 374 resurfacing and road preservation projects, over three million dollars in drainage improvement projects, and over three million dollars in land and greenspace preservation projects in our district. I am proud to have also secured additional resources and tools to keep our officers and our families safe, while also rescuing the county’s recycling center and ensuring it contains the most modern, efficient technology in the industry.

“I have delivered on these items and have never voted for a tax increase,” continued Councilman Moody. “But there is more work to be done including multiple intersection and accessibility projects in process that need to be brought to fruition. That is why I am seeking re-election. I stand ready to continue delivering results on the most important issues in our community, and I humbly ask for the support of our neighbors to do just that.”

Twice named the “Best County Council Member” by Charleston residents, Councilman Moody is a lifelong Charlestonian. A graduate of Middleton High School, Councilman Moody earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina and an M.B.A. from The Citadel. As a commercial banker for over 25 years, Councilman Moody has assisted hundreds of small businesses to start, grow, or expand their operations.

His community service includes leadership roles with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, The Education Foundation, the Workplace Institute for Educators, Junior Achievement, and the St. Andrew’s Rotary Club. Selected a “40 Under 40” by the Charleston Regional Business Journal, Moody and his wife have raised their three children in West Ashley. Councilman Moody attends John Wesley United Methodist Church, where he has served as the Treasurer, Finance Chairman, and past Chairman of the Administrative Council.
